Keystroke disclosure via unverified restoration socket
Published Oct 7, 2026 · Updated Oct 7, 2026
Information disclosure in George Nachman iTerm2 before 3.6.12 allows local users to capture restored-session keystrokes and output on macOS. The orphaned-session server adopter connects to a socket in a world-writable directory without verifying its owner, allowing an attacker to pre-create the socket and intercept the session. Exploitation requires local access and a session restoration that connects to the attacker-controlled socket.
