Unauthenticated command execution via exposed H2 Console
Published Oct 5, 2026 · Updated Oct 5, 2026
Northstar 9.1.1 and earlier exposes an H2 Console that allows remote attackers to execute system commands without application authentication. AppConfig applies its authentication interceptor only to /northstar/**, while application.yml enables /h2-console with the H2 sa account and an empty password. A network path to the console is required; H2 CREATE ALIAS executes commands with the Northstar process's privileges.
