Map disclosure and modification via unchecked map IDs
Published Jun 6, 2026 · Updated Jun 6, 2026
Authorization bypass in MapPress Maps for WordPress 2.96.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary maps through its REST API. Mappress_Api::rest_api_init exposes reads without authorization and permits writes based only on edit_posts, while the map model accepts any supplied map ID without verifying ownership. Reads require no authentication and expose map content; Contributor-level access permits modifying, deleting, restoring, or cloning another author's maps.
