Application crash via undersized configuration atom
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Integer underflow in Bento4 1.6.0.0 allows context-dependent attackers to crash applications by supplying a crafted MP4 file. AP4_AvccAtom::Create() and AP4_HvccAtom::Create() subtract the eight-byte atom header from an unvalidated smaller size, wrapping the unsigned payload length and driving oversized allocation and copy operations. The affected application must parse an MP4 containing an undersized avcC or hvcC atom; successful exploitation terminates that process without reported data disclosure or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
