Application crash via unchecked MAT4 size multiplication
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Integer overflow in libsndfile 1.2.2 allows attackers to crash applications when they process a crafted MAT4 file. The mat4_read_header() function multiplies unvalidated rows, columns, channels, and frames by the byte width in signed sf_count_t arithmetic, overflowing the computed data size. An application must pass the crafted file to libsndfile; sanitizer builds trap with SIGILL, while wrapped length fields can drive out-of-bounds memory access.
