Process crash via unbounded recursive token dumping
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Buffer overflow in dump() in zserge jsmn commit 25647e6 allows attackers to crash jsondump via crafted JSON input. The example/jsondump.c routine recursively walks parser-generated object and array tokens without enforcing a nesting-depth limit, so deeply nested input exhausts the call stack. Exploitation requires feeding untrusted JSON to the example jsondump utility; no broader impact has been published.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
