Application crash via unterminated schema quotation
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in flatcc at commit 4c3b999e allows attackers to crash schema-processing applications via a crafted FlatBuffers schema. The schema lexer's lex() C-string scan dereferences its input pointer one byte beyond an exact-length buffer when the final quotation mark is unterminated. Reachability requires an application to process attacker-controlled schema bytes; the documented consequence is an application crash without reported data disclosure or modification.
