GridFS disclosure and deletion via file-ID query injection
Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
GridFS query injection in MongoDB PHP Library 1.1.0 through 1.21.4 and 2.0.0 through 2.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to read stored files. GridFS bucket methods use a structured caller-supplied file ID directly in MongoDB filters, so query-operator keys alter the intended match instead of remaining a literal ID. Reachability requires an affected application to pass an authenticated user's structured ID into download, delete, or rename operations; exploitation can expose another file, rename it, or delete every chunk in the bucket and leave stored content unreadable.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.1.0 <=1.21.4
