CVE-2026-88014Public exploit

Destination escape via unsanitized ZIP entry names

Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

Path traversal in Rclone rclone 1.72.0 through 1.75.0 allows context-dependent attackers to write files outside a chosen destination. The archive ZIP backend's (*Fs).readZip cleans central-directory names with path.Clean but does not reject remaining parent-directory segments before exposing Object.Remote() paths. Exploitation requires a user to copy, sync, or mount an attacker-supplied ZIP; writes escape the selected destination only when the destination backend does not independently confine paths.
