Persistent privilege escalation via stale session roles
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Incorrect authorization in InvoicePlane before 1.7.2 allows remote authenticated users to retain administrative access after a role downgrade. Admin_Controller trusts the login-time user_type stored in the active session instead of revalidating the current ip_users.user_type value. Exploitation requires a previously privileged session and a downgrade by another administrator; the stale session can restore its account to administrator persistently.
