Device crash or heap disclosure via shadowed length
Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Heap-based out-of-bounds read in ESP32-audioI2S 3.4.4 through 4.0.0 allows remote attackers to crash devices or read heap memory. In read_ID3_Header, synchronized-lyrics processing shadows the input length and trusts an oversized ID3 frame declaration when reading the allocated audio buffer. A crafted MP3 file or HTTP audio stream must reach firmware containing the library; successful access can interrupt playback through a device crash or expose adjacent heap contents.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
