Unauthenticated code execution via page-template path traversal
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Path traversal in WordPress before 7.1.2 allows remote attackers to execute code by making page-template resolution include a local PHP file. The get_page_template() path resolution can accept a chosen readable PHP file outside the active theme directories and pass it into the template include flow. Exploitation is unauthenticated, but code execution requires a suitable local file plus specific server-environment and active-theme conditions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
