CVE-2026-8780Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service crash via malformed NGSetupRequest RANNodeName

Published May 18, 2026 · Updated May 18, 2026

Improper input validation in Aether SD-Core AMF before 2.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to crash AMF via a malformed NGSetupRequest. The NGAP handler passes an invalid UTF-8 RANNodeName into a Prometheus GaugeVec label, whose validation panics instead of rejecting or sanitizing the value. Reachability requires access to the N2 NGAP interface and privileges to submit an NGSetupRequest; successful exploitation terminates the AMF process.
