Command execution via mispositioned Info-ZIP separator
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Argument injection in bestzip 2.2.6 and 3.0.2 allows local users to execute commands through the native Info-ZIP backend. The nativeZip function places an attacker-controlled destination before the -- separator, letting -n consume it and exposing crafted source entries such as -T and -TT to Info-ZIP option parsing. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled destination and source values while a native Info-ZIP zip binary is available, and commands run with Node.js process privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
