AES secret-key disclosure via padded-key logging
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Sensitive-data logging in affected Apache Syncope releases allows local users with log access to obtain the effective AES secret key. DefaultEncryptorManager right-pads a nonstandard-length security.aesSecretKey with random characters and writes the resulting key value to the application log. The flaw requires a key whose length is not 16, 24, or 32 bytes and affects 3.0.15 through 3.0.16, 4.0.3 through 4.0.7, and 4.1.0-M0 through 4.1.2; disclosure exposes the key used for reversible encryption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=3.0.15 <=3.0.16
- Affected versionversion=4.0.3 <=4.0.7
