Service interruption via undersized compressed EC keys
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in OCaml mirage-crypto-ec before 2.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt services with compressed EC keys. Point.of_octets processes undersized compressed-point buffers without a length check and raises an exception in P-256, P-384, and P-521 operations. The affected paths are Dsa.pub_of_octets and Dh.key_exchange; an uncaught exception can terminate the calling operation or service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
