Disclosure and privilege restoration via stale alias cache
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Incorrect authorization in affected Gerrit Code Review releases allows remote authenticated users to read private repositories via crafted project names. ProjectUtil strips only one terminal .git suffix while JGit resolves repeated-suffix aliases to the same repository, leaving an alias ProjectState outside canonical cache eviction. An unauthenticated attacker also reaches previously public repositories; stale access permits new private-commit reads or refs/meta/config writes that restore revoked owner privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
