Arbitrary file read via config token substitution
Published May 17, 2026 · Updated May 17, 2026
Arbitrary file read in Kilo Code CLI 7.0.47 and earlier allows attackers controlling its environment to read local files. ConfigPaths.parseText expands {file:path} tokens from KILO_CONFIG_CONTENT before schema validation, and an invalid key exposes substituted content in a Zod error written to stderr. Exploitation requires control of the CLI process environment or its container, and disclosure is limited to files readable by that process.
