Sandboxed code execution via dangling DevTools context
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Use-after-free in Google Chrome DevTools before 153.0.8010.36 allows remote attackers to execute code inside the sandbox via crafted HTML. ConsoleHelper::injectedScript drops shared ownership of InspectedContext before returning a raw InjectedScript pointer, allowing synchronous context destruction during object serialization to leave wrapObjectMirror using freed memory. A user must load the crafted page and invoke a captured CommandLineAPI inspect function outside an active ContextScope; execution remains confined to the browser sandbox.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
