Sandbox escape via incorrect FileSystem reference resolution
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Incorrect reference resolution in Google Chrome FileSystem before 153.0.8010.36 allows remote attackers to execute code outside the sandbox. Google has disclosed only that FileSystem resolves a reference incorrectly; the restricted issue does not reveal the affected function or validation failure. Exploitation requires social engineering that causes a crafted HTML page to be processed, and successful exploitation escapes the browser sandbox.
