Sandbox escape via unpadded Metal workgroup allocation
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Improper quantity validation in Tint in Google Chrome before 153.0.8010.36 on macOS allows remote attackers to execute code outside the sandbox. The MSL writer supplied Metal with an unpadded workgroup allocation size even when the generated wrapper structure required additional alignment. Exploitation requires a user to load crafted HTML that reaches the macOS WebGPU and Metal path, after which attacker-controlled code can escape Chrome sandbox containment.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
