UI spoofing via incorrect Downloads authorization
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Google Chrome Downloads before 153.0.8010.36 allows remote attackers to spoof UI via crafted HTML. The Downloads component incorrectly permits a compromised renderer to control browser UI presentation for content initiated by an attacker-controlled page. The gate is prior renderer compromise plus processing attacker-controlled HTML, and the reported consequence is limited to misleading browser UI.
