Sandbox escape via dangling focus observer
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Use-after-free in Aura in Google Chrome before 153.0.8010.36 allows remote attackers to execute code outside the sandbox via crafted HTML. RenderWidgetHostViewAura remains registered as a focus observer during deletion, so a reentrant focus-loss notification calls a dangling pointer. A crafted select popup can delay widget teardown and destroy the view before its window; successful exploitation executes code beyond the sandbox.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
