Sandboxed code execution via unchecked interval lookup
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Google Chrome Media before 153.0.8010.36 allows remote attackers to execute code in the sandbox via crafted HTML. The media::IntervalMap accessors relied on debug-only guards before decrementing the map's begin iterator, so release builds could continue into an invalid read. Opening an attacker-controlled page containing crafted media is required, and resulting execution remains inside Chrome's sandbox.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
