CVE-2026-8722Network attack vector

Metric forgery via unvalidated StatsD names

Published Jun 3, 2026 · Updated Jun 4, 2026

Metric injection in Net::Async::Statsd::Client 0.005 and earlier allows remote attackers to forge StatsD metrics via crafted names. The queue_stat routine concatenates a caller-supplied metric name into the StatsD line protocol without rejecting newlines, colons, or pipes. Exploitation requires an application to derive metric names from untrusted input; injected records can corrupt monitoring data and alerts.
