CVE-2026-8715Network attack vector

Credential exfiltration via unrestricted AppRole secretIDPath

Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026

Arbitrary file read in HashiCorp Vault Secrets Operator 1.3.0 through 1.4.1 allows remote authenticated users to exfiltrate pod files. AppRole secretIDPath validation rejects traversal and unsuitable files but permits any accessible regular file, while a tenant-controlled VaultConnection address receives its contents during authentication. Exploitation requires namespaced create and get permissions for VaultAuth, VaultConnection, and VaultStaticSecret resources and can expose credentials that enable cluster privilege escalation.
