Privilege escalation via REST patch authorization failure
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Improper privilege management in Progress MarkLogic Server before 11.3.6 and 12.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to gain elevated privileges. The REST API document patch operation fails to preserve the caller's low-privilege boundary when processing patches against the Security database. A low-privileged REST role is sufficient to execute operations reserved for more privileged identities, affecting stored security data and server operation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
