CVE-2026-86902

Sensitive data access via directory path parsing

Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026

Path parsing in NSDocument in Apple macOS Sonoma before 14.8.8 and macOS before 27 allows local users to access sensitive user data. NSDocument insufficiently validates directory paths while parsing them; Apple has not disclosed the accepted malformed syntax or failed check. Execution of a local app is required, and the documented consequence is limited to access to sensitive user data.
