App termination via ImageIO out-of-bounds write
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in ImageIO in Apple iOS and iPadOS before 26.7 and macOS before 27 allows attackers to terminate an app via a crafted image. ImageIO writes beyond a destination buffer because crafted image data reaches processing without the required bounds enforcement. The image must be processed by an affected app; the published consequence is app termination, with no reported system compromise or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
