Cross-user conversation access via missing ownership checks

Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026

Improper authorization in Cinnamon AI Kotaemon 0.12.0 allows remote authenticated users to read or alter other users' conversations. Four handlers in libs/ktem/ktem/pages/chat/control.py load a Conversation by ID without comparing the requester ID with Conversation.user. Any authenticated account can expose transcripts, retrieval history, plots, and suggestions or can rename, overwrite, and permanently delete another user's conversation.
