Unauthenticated account takeover via client-controlled identity headers
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Authentication bypass in pgAdmin 4 6.2 through 9.17 allows remote attackers to impersonate users via Webserver identity headers. WebserverAuthentication.get_user() falls back from the WSGI environment to untrusted request headers; header-derived environment names also accept client input. Exploitation requires network access and webserver in AUTHENTICATION_SOURCES, which defaults to internal, and grants the named account's privileges, including an existing Administrator's control of the installation.
