Host denial of service via uninitialized cleanup pointer
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
Denial of service in DPDK vhost-crypto allows guest OS users to hang or crash the host process via guest descriptors. Write-back chain cleanup in lib/vhost follows an uninitialized next pointer when mapping a guest descriptor fails. Exploitation requires a guest attached to a virtio-crypto vhost-user backend; the reported consequence is host-process interruption, not data access.
