Host-memory corruption via unchecked guest descriptor index
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
An out-of-bounds write in DPDK vhost-crypto allows guest OS users to corrupt host backend memory via a crafted descriptor index. The lib/vhost backend uses a guest-supplied avail-ring descriptor index without bounds checking. Reachability requires a guest connected to the crypto backend; the supplied record establishes a host-side write, not code execution or a complete guest escape.
