Recipient injection via percent-encoded field-name desynchronization
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
URI interpretation conflict in Fastify fast-uri 4.1.3 through 4.1.4 allows attackers to inject mailto recipients. The mailto parser compares percent-encoded query names against decoded reserved names, then decodes unknown names during serialization, turning an encoded spelling of to, subject, or body into a live reserved field. Exploitation requires an application to validate the first parse and later act on the reserialized URI; the result can add an attacker-chosen recipient or alter message content.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
