Account takeover via unverified provider email
Published Sep 19, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Privilege escalation in UsersWP – Social Login before 1.5.10 allows remote attackers to take over existing WordPress accounts. The plugin resolves an existing user by a provider-asserted email address without first requiring the provider's verified-email signal. Exploitation requires a configured social provider through which an attacker-controlled account can assert a victim's email, and takeover inherits that victim's privileges, including Administrator.
