Unauthenticated schema updates via missing capability check
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Improper authentication in Open Web Analytics 1.9.0 through 1.9.1 allows remote attackers to apply database schema updates. The base.updatesApply controller declares no required capability, so checkCapabilityAndAuthenticateUser skips authentication and runs its schema-update action. The public web endpoint requires neither a session nor user interaction, and successful requests can alter the analytics database schema.
