Restricted asset requests via omitted model authorization
Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Grokability Snipe-IT before 8.7.0 allows remote authenticated users to request restricted asset models. ViewAssetsController::getRequestItem checks requestability for assets and accessories but omits AssetModel, then calls the request method and writes an Actionlog row. Any logged-in account can create these requests directly, but each request still requires administrator approval and does not complete a checkout by itself.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
