Unauthorized local Git writes via owner check
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Authorization bypass in the Gitea push mirror API 1.18.0 through 28.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to write refs to local Git repositories. The API checks the repository owner's local-path permission instead of the requester's, then pushes refs to an existing repository at the supplied server path. Exploitation requires IMPORT_LOCAL_PATHS enabled, repository-admin access, an owner permitted to use local paths, and a target writable by the Gitea process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
