Unauthenticated command execution via unvalidated traceroute parameters
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
OS command injection in Rapid7 InsightConnect Traceroute Plugin before 1.0.3 allows remote attackers to execute Linux commands. The traceroute action inserts the host, port, max_ttl, count, and time_out request values into shell commands without sufficient validation. Network access without authentication is sufficient, and injected commands run with the plugin container's privileges, enabling data access, modification, or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
