CVE-2026-8660Network attack vector

Remote command execution via unvalidated host parameter

Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026

OS command injection in Rapid7 InsightConnect Ping Plugin before 1.0.4 allows remote attackers to execute OS commands through the host parameter. The Linux ping action insufficiently validates host before inserting it into a constructed shell command, so shell syntax in the value is interpreted as commands. The action must be invoked with attacker-controlled host input; successful execution runs with the plugin container's privileges.
