CVE-2026-86562

Heap corruption via control-queue descriptor double-fetch

Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026

A heap overflow in DPDK's VDUSE control-queue handler allows guest OS users to corrupt host-process memory via changing descriptors. The virtio_net_ctrl_pop function sizes a buffer from shared descriptor lengths, then reads those lengths again for copying without bounding the total copy to the allocation. Exploitation requires an active VDUSE backend and control queue plus attacker control of shared descriptors during the race; host code execution is not demonstrated.
