Unauthorized account registration via missing email verification
Published Sep 20, 2026 · Updated Sep 20, 2026
Authentication bypass in ZTE SmartLife ZTE_SL_V2.8.2_ABROAD and earlier allows remote authenticated users to register arbitrary emails. The /account/person/signup.serv backend accepts application-authenticated signup requests and creates accounts for supplied email addresses without proving mailbox ownership. Reachability requires SmartLife application authentication parameters reconstructed from the public Android client; the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized account registration.
