Application crash via unbounded sscanf scansets
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in vgmstream r2117 allows context-dependent attackers to crash an application via a crafted TXTH or TXTP file. The TXTH and TXTP parsers use unbounded sscanf scansets to copy attacker-controlled keys, values, and filenames into fixed-size stack arrays before validation. A user or integrating application must parse the file; the overwrite terminates the process and has code-execution potential.
