Authenticated group permission changes via unchecked actions
Published Sep 7, 2026 · Updated Sep 7, 2026
Authorization bypass in ILIAS before 9.23, 10.11, and 11.4 allows remote authenticated users to alter group settings via crafted POST requests. The ilObjGroupGUI saveMapSettingsObject() and updateGroupTypeObject() methods perform state-changing actions without checking group write permission. Read access to a group is sufficient to change its map settings, didactic template assignments, modes, and permissions for all members.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
