Subscriber-to-Administrator escalation via unchecked membership purchase
Published Sep 13, 2026 · Updated Sep 13, 2026
Privilege escalation in WPEverest User Registration & Membership before 5.2.8 allows remote authenticated users to gain privileged roles. The membership-purchase handler neither checks the purchaser's capability nor validates the submitted payment method and plan before assigning the plan's role. Subscriber access is sufficient, but escalation to Administrator requires a site owner to map a paid plan to that role.
