Root command execution via unsanitized PingTest parameters
Published Sep 7, 2026 · Updated Sep 7, 2026
OS command injection in Linksys RE7000 2.0.15 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands as root via PingTest requests. The platform_event_pingTest function concatenates pingTestIp, pingTestPktSize, and pingTestTimes into a ping command and passes it to system() without shell-metacharacter filtering. A valid or predictable session cookie reaches the handler, after which injected commands run with root privileges.
