Session hijacking via unrotated login identifier
Published Sep 7, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Session fixation in SourceCodester CICT Portal 1.0 allows remote attackers to hijack user sessions through a fixed session identifier. The auth_process.php login handler authenticates a user without regenerating the preauthentication PHP session identifier, leaving the attacker-known identifier bound to the authenticated session. A victim must authenticate while using the fixed identifier; the attacker can then reuse it with the victim's application privileges.
