Contributor-level stored XSS via unsafe thumbnail titles
Published Sep 5, 2026 · Updated Sep 7, 2026
Stored XSS in DearFlip for WordPress 2.4.30 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through crafted page content. The parseThumbs() path passes a Custom HTML block's .df-element inner HTML as a thumbnail title, then writes it into a span with innerHTML and into an image attribute without contextual escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store the markup; the script runs in the browser of anyone who later opens the affected page.
