Client-certificate authentication bypass via OCSP fail-open
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Authentication bypass in affected Apache Tomcat 9, 10, and 11 releases allows remote attackers to complete CLIENT_CERT authentication. OpenSSLEngine.processOCSP mishandles some unknown or failed OCSP results in the FFM path instead of preserving a verification error when ocspSoftFail is false. Affected ranges are 9.0.92 through 9.0.121, 10.1.22 through 10.1.59, and 11.0.0-M14 through 11.0.25; the bypass admits a certificate that policy requires Tomcat to reject.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
