CVE-2026-86083Network attack vector

Code execution via mutable JSON.stringify code generation

Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026

Code injection in n8n before 1.123.76, 2.0.0 through 2.37.6, and 2.38.0 through 2.38.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The legacy expression compiler and isolated-vm bridge call the mutable global JSON.stringify while emitting synthetic literals and timezone wrapper source, so one expression can replace the function and inject executable text into later generated code. Exploitation requires low-privileged workflow-editing access and the legacy expression engine; the vm engine is unaffected, while injected code runs with the n8n process's access.
